Silver Medals for our Colleges Handball duo 40×20 finalists.

Well done to Eoin Kerrigan & Augustine waters representing Grange Secondary School on reaching the colleges b Junior final  losing out in a tie breaker against Mayo it was a fantastic match lads and massive effort.

Congratulations to Drumcliffe Juvenile Handball (Connaught Silver Medal recipients).

Community Games Handballers strike Gold.

Well done all our club representatives who recently won Gold at the Co Community Games. Well done to all and to the Walsh family who presented a perpetual shield in memory of the late Gabriel Walsh to the victors. Its with regret at that this promising side will not Represent there area in the Connaught Community Games Handball finals due to other team event participation and the runner’s up Collooney will not proceed to Connaught finals .The club would like to thank all for their participation in this event.

All Ireland Glory for Sligo Duo:

Well done also to Michael Murphy and Michael McMorrow who won the DMBD  All Ireland final in an exciting game , held in Kingscourt , Cavan last Sunday , beating B. Murphy and M. Byrne , Wexford in straight games.

One wall season starts.

Saturday the 28th at 10.30am in oxfield,we will hold a one wall Blitz,with all four clubs participating.Grades to cater for all ages & abilities,from 9&U to 70+, including any parents who would like to give it a go.U9&11&U is Doubles.U13/U15/U17 Singles.

Silver Medals for our Adult Doubles teams 40×20 In their Connaght Finals.

Hard Luck also to our adult teams, 035’s Doubles Connaught final Clive Slevin  partnered with Kevin Meehan (Ballymote) Lost out to Galway pairing Kieran Hanley & Myles Connaghton 21-12, 21-14.

Ruby Masters finalists Michael Brenann & Hugh Slevin Snr Lost Out to Morgan Darcy & John Kelehan Galway in there respective final.21-4, 21-7. A great achievement lads to get back to this standard and reaching the finals.

Adult 60×30 code starts soon!

60×30 inter club just around the corner for adult players try to get some game time in lads!

Coaching .

Feedback from our visiting coach Tom Foody: Casteconner Level 2 Coach Tom foody last Tuesday evening gave very positive feedback following his coaching session with some of our juveniles.He remarked the appetite for the game in the Drumcliffe Handball club was very encouraging in all players in attendance and the skill level was very broad , They have a great future in the game if they keep improving and continue to play handball . Thanks Tom again for that.

External Co coaching!

Some of our players will also be selected for Co External coaching with Francis Mc Cann who won many All-Ireland titles and was on the Senior Circuit for many years & Shane Brune an All-Ireland medal champion this will take place in collooney in the coming weeks info will follow within the next few weeks on this.

Newly qualified coaches.

Getting our newly trained coaches court ready for Next season or helping Juveniles with practice nights, the next step is to get some experience with some of our present coaches. We had scheduled a meeting for Monday the 9th of April to discuss next season coaching structure but we will reschedule for another date.

Drumcliffe Handball Adults Reached 40 x 20 Connaught Finals.

Clive Slevin (Drumcliffe) & Kevin Meehan (Ballymote) Played Galway to compete in the Connaught Final last weekend in Claremorris in the O35 Doubles Unfortunately were beaten 21-1121-14,

Hugh Slevin Snr & Michael Brennan played Galway in the Ruby Masters also in the Connaught Final last Wednesday also beaten on this occasion but massive achievement for these lads to get back to this standard.

Its a great achievement for all our competitors to represent their  club and county. The club would like to wish them every success in their respective games

 

One wall Community Games last Sunday at 10pm Collooney.

Drumcliffe handballers represented their area and won Gold at the county finals.

They now progress to Connaught Finals in Letrim On the 21st of April.

12 March Club News.

Great weekend for the underage & Adult handballers in the club .
Michael Carroll paired up with Diarmuid Dunleavey to win the U12 Doubles boys Connaught Quarter & semi finals they are the first of many players to achieve this.The boys will contest the final in two weeks in Galway and hopefully some other Club representatives will Follow.
Unfortunately is was not our day in the U13 Doubles ,but Joe Campbell & Mathew Percy gave a great display and will be a pairing to watch for the future.
Eoin Kerrigan won his U 14 boys Singles quarter final against his Leitrim opponent and will play the semi final this thursday in Oxfield @ 7pm against Roscommon.
Augustine Waters progresses to the boys U15 Singles Semi final against Roscommon in Oxfield also this thursday night @7.30pm.
Oran Mc Nulty plays U11 Singles semi final in St Comans Handball Club Rosscommon town this weekend,& Jeanette Slevin plays In Lisacul Handball Club in U13 Girls Semi Final.

Adults Reach 40 x 20 Connaght Finals.

Weekend Competitions

Good luck to all our Under 11 Competitors in the 40 x 20 Championships this evening in Collooney and to colleges B competitors in 40 X 20 in Drumshambo and Finagh. We know they will all do the club proud. Coaching continues this Saturday morning as normal. Times will be changing for the remaining months and will be confirmed at a later date. There will be no coaching on the following dates: Reminder of community games Date Also.

Cumann na mBunscoil Great showing from Drumcliffe handball

Congratulations to our juvenile players who represented their schools in Cumann na mBunscoil competition in the Connaght finals last Sunday 11th. Our club representives were from Rathcormac in U11 singles and U13 doubles competitions. Huge thanks to our teams, subs, coaches, parents and teachers for making the trip in very bad driving conditions, and well done to Oran on Bringing back his First Connaght Handball Medal. Well done also to Michael and Fionn they done there school proud in the Doubles encounter but missed out on the medals this time.Well done Lads mighty progress.Next Up Under 11 Co Championships Next Friday eve 6.30 pm. the 23rd In Collooney Handball Club.The Draw to Follow this Sunday , and please safe the date for U12-U17 Junvenile 40 x 20 Co Finals Sun 04 March 10am.
